1.    Teaching aims:

1) Learn new words and expressions: king, plant seeds, get in, store, kingship, share and agree to.

2.    Teaching important points:

1)The names of seasons.

2)The story of seasons.

3.    Teaching aids:

Flashcards, a computer, a crown and some clothes.

4.    Teaching Steps:

Step One Revision&Warm-up

1)       Sing the song of months. (with flash cartoon.)

2)       Show the pictures of different seasons quickly. And students say the names of them.

Step Two Presentation

1)       Listen and do.

I give some commands to students, and they stand up and do.

Fly a kite, eat icecream, swim, climb mountains, skate, play soccer, plant trees.

2)       Free talk

“Today is a sunny day. Do you feel warm or cold?”

“What’s the season now?”(“Spring.”)

“Yes, it’s spring now. What do you do in spring?”(Students answer.)

“What do farmers do in spring?”

3)       Teach “seeds”, “plant seeds”. (With the help of computer.)

Read it with doing the action.

4)       Do the same with “make the crops grow”, “get in all the crops”, and “store all the crops”.

5)       Practice these words and expressions.

6)       “Oh, you all do a great job. And as a prize, I’ll tell you a story about a king and his four sons. I need four students to help me.” (I put on a crown and invite four students to the front.)

“Long long ago, there was a king.”(point to myself and my crown) “He was very very old. He had four sons. This is the first son, his name was Spring.”(point to the first student) “This is the second son, and his name was Summer. Autumn was the third son. And this was the fourth son. His name was Winter.” (point to the other three students)

“Oh, I am very old. I can’t be the king. I want to choose a new king from my sons. But who can I choose? Ok. I have a good idea. I will ask my sons some questions and decide who will be the new king.”

“Well, my dear Spring, what will you do if you are the new king? ” “I will plant seeds.” “Ok, Summer, what will you if  you’re the new king?” “I will make the crops grow.” “Good, my dear third son, Autumn, what will you do if you’re the new king?” “I will get in all the crops.” “Great! My little fourth son, what will you do if you’re the new king?” “I will store all the crops.”

“Thanks GOD, all my four sons are so good. I can’t decide who will the new king. Wait! I have a good idea! You should share the kingship. Spring will be the king in March, April and May. Summer will be the king in June, July and August. Autumn will be the king in September, October and Noverbem. And Winter will be the king in December, January and February. Do you agree?”

“Ok. Boys and girls, the four sons agreed to share the kingship, so we had four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter.”

Step Three Drills and Practice

1)       Show the new words in the story on the computer and students practice them.

2)       Play the tape, students listen to the story again, and answer the questions again.

Answers: Year. Four sons.

Spring,Summer, Autumnand Winter.

Shared to kingship.

3)Perform the story.

Divide students into small groups and students perform the story.

3)       Invite some students to perform the story with me.

Step Four Conclusion &Homework

Show the main contexts we learned today on the screen. And revise them.

Homework: Perform the story after class.
